The Colorado Mammoth took on the Calgary Roughnecks at home as these two bitter rivals battled it out on Friday March 3rd 2017.

1st Quarter

Right out of the gates the Colorado Mammoth used the energy from their 15,898 fans to their advantage. Stephen Keogh would get his first goal in the “Loud House” with a nice cut and pass from Eli McLaughlin. Eli would then proceed to score twice in under three minutes to give the Mammoth a 3-0 halfway through the quarter.

When a team is hot, their hot. A little more than halfway through the quarter Colorado was over 50% goal accuracy.

The Roughnecks showed some signs of life with a transition goal by Garrett McIntosh and a perfect outlet pass from goaltender Christian Del Bianco. The quarter would end 5-1 Mammoth.

2nd Quarter

Calgary would fight back with Tyson Bell scoring on transition to begin the 2nd. Great heads up play getting down the floor and burying the breakaway. Two minutes later Dan Dobbie would get a power play marker to give the Roughnecks some momentum.

The second quarter was a battle between these two. Eli McLaughlin would complete his hat trick not even halfway through the game. Callum Crawford would get his first of the match with a good pump fake and low shot.

Calgary would then get two more in less than thirty seconds to give them back the momentum.

This quarter would end 8-6 Mammoth but Calgary are showing that they are still alive in this one going into halftime.

3rd Quarter

For the second time in this game, Calgary’s goaltender would serve a perfect pass on transition. Bob Snider was streaking down the floor and would score at 12:42, bringing this game within one.

From this moment on it would become the Callum Crawford show. Scoring back to back goals within a minute of each other. That gave the Mammoth and their fans a well needed boost.

Greg Downing would score off a big loose ball and Stephen Keogh would fight through the middle and bury it. That would give Colorado their biggest lead of the night 12-7. Callum Crawford would then complete his natural hat trick of the quarter with one point one second left on a transition goal.

4th Quarter

Calgary’s Curtis Dickson would score 25 seconds into the quarter with a strong dive and bury to give some hope. Unfortunately for Roughneck fans, this quarter would be all Colorado once again.

Callum would sneak in front of the net and score his sixth of the night completing his sock trick at 10:17. Stephen Keogh would get his hat trick at 8:48 to make it 16-9.

The game would end 18-9 Colorado; one the Roughnecks will look to forget.

Expect the next meeting between these two to be a vicious one.
